Former Columbus Recreation and Parks Manager Indicted
A Franklin County grand jury indicted Lorrie Marie Poindexter, former Recreation

Assistant Manager for the Columbus Recreation and Parks Dept., on March 15 on theft in office and miscue of credit cards charges.
According to the indictment, the 37-year-old Poindexter committed the crimes between January 17, 2020, to February 20, 2020. The indictment and police report are absent of specifics, including how much taxpayer dollars Poindexter is accused of stealing.
The Sussi Report learned that Columbus Recreation and Parks fired Poindexter on September 16, 2020, six months before Poindexter’s one-year probationary period expired. According to a copy of the Termination Report, Poindexter was fired over “various work rule violations determined after a thorough investigation. As well as additional concerns about work ethics and behavior.”
The Columbus Recreation and Parks Dept. promoted Poindexter to Recreation Assistant Manager on March 3, 2020. The position paid approximately $55,494 a year.
Records show that Poindexter joined the Columbus Recreation and Parks Dept in 2012 as a Recreation Instructor at Barnett Recreation Center.
Poindexter will be arraigned on theft in office and misuse of credit cards charges on March 28 at the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas.
