I-71 Shooter Captured On Video

Updated: Mar 11, 2022

It’s like a scene straight out of a Hollywood movie.

Columbus Division of Police cruiser riddled with bullets

But what unfolded this morning on Interstate 71 north of Gemini Place was real and terrifying.

The initial call to police came in at 9:57 a.m. A man, armed with a handgun, taking potshots at passing vehicles.

When Columbus Division of Police officers arrived on the scene at 10:09, the gunman opened fire on them and took off running down I-71.

Officers returned fire and stopped the brazen shooter in his tracks. The Sussi Report learned that the gunman is in stable condition at Grand Medical Center.

The shooter, who has not been identified yet, hit several vehicles including a CPD cruiser. Thankfully, none of the errant bullets hit any of the officers or civilians.

UPDATE: The shooter has been identified as 21-year-old Jonathan Sirville Wilder Myers. The Sussi Report also learned that on November 7, 2021, the Franklin County Municipal Court issued a warrant for Myers on domestic violence and assault charges.

In this video, recorded by a couple waiting in traffic, you can see the man open fire on the police.
