Man Armed With Shotgun Opens Fire On Police
Close call Saturday morning on the Hilltop for Columbus Division of Police officers.
Too close for comfort.
Around 12:53 a.m., officers responded to a shots-fired complaint near an apartment building on Kingston Road. When they arrived on the scene, they said 36-year-old Lamar Ivan Blue pulled out a shotgun and fired at them.
The pellets narrowly missed them but blasted a sizeable pattern near the front passenger window of their vehicle.
An officer returned fire and struck Blue who was arrested and transported to Grant Medical Center where he remains in stable condition.
Blue is charged with assault on a police officer, a felony. According to Franklin County court records, the Columbus man has no previous criminal record.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations is investigating the shooting.
