Mother of 10-Year-Old Rape Victim Says Her Boyfriend is Innocent
Lourdes Nava Gomez is standing by her man, the same man accused of raping and impregnating the woman's 10-year-old daughter, who, according to the Columbus Division of Police, was nine at the time of the sexual assault.
Gomez, 33, told Noticias Telemundo, a Latin news organization, "everything they are saying against him is a lie." The reporter briefly spoke with Gomez at her Columbus apartment.
Police say that Gerson Fuentes, 27, confessed to raping Gomez's daughter and more than once.
Sources tell The Sussi Report that Fuentes and Gomez had been together for some time, and Gomez is pregnant with Fuentes' baby.
The Sussi Report learned that Gomez has several other children. In a picture Gomez posted on her Facebook page in June 2020, she is standing with six young children.
FOX News reported that Fuentes is an illegal immigrant from Guatemala and that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) placed a detainer on Fuentes, who remains at the Franklin County Jail on a $2 million bond. Fuentes' preliminary hearing is on July 22.
It's uncertain if Lourdes Nava Gomez is in Columbus legally. We know that in 2019, the Whitehall Police Dept. ticketed Gomez for not having a driver's license and failure to signal. Sources say that Gomez speaks little English.
Police caught wind of this case after the 10-year-old girl received an abortion on June 30 at an Indianapolis abortion clinic.
The story has outraged people across the country, including the Columbus Latino community. "The Latino community is angry," says a woman who wished to remain anonymous. "We don't respect the mother of the abuser. We are all infuriated by this. We immigrate to have a better life and give our children better lives. This mother needs to be behind bars."
Whether police will charge Gomez with a crime is a question we can't answer. There are others:
Who drove the girl to the abortion clinic and paid for the procedure?
Is the girl with Gomez or with the Franklin County Children Services?
Has the Franklin County Children Services had prior contact with this family?
Who hired Fuentes to work at a local café, and did they know he was an illegal immigrant?
